How Opposing Transgender Athletes Hurts All of Us

How Opposing Transgender Athletes Hurts All of Us In several states, legislators have introduced bills to ban transgender girls from competing on girls’ and women’s sports teams in public high schools and universities. They claim the reason for these bills is to protect cisgender girls and women, who identify as the gender they were assigned at birth. But, it’s not true. These laws will only hurt cisgender people. Now, don’t get me wrong. The most important reason to support trans athletes is to support trans athletes and trans rights, in general. But, if you don’t care about trans people, maybe you’ll care about how these bills damage cis people. With that in mind, I’m not going to explain about the gender affirming hormones that many trans women take and how they significantly reduce muscle mass as well as red-blood cells that carry oxygen to the muscles to enhance performance. These hormones also reduce speed and strength. Many young trans girls take puberty blockers that inhi...

Transgender sexuality and that awkwardly asked question

Transgender sexuality and that awkwardly asked question “So, if you want to be a girl, why do you want to be with a girl?” That refrain hung about me during my initial transition, a veritable albatross that took years to fly its undead carcass back to whence it came. Not that I was shy in setting the record straight, but it when you’re 18 and trying to get your own head around gender and sexuality it was hard trying to come up with a reasoned answer. Now, the obvious answer is “none of your business”, but that just begets pestering and more questions. The more nuanced answer is that sexuality and gender are two completely separate things. Namely, the gender you present and identify as has no bearing on who you find attractive and sleep with. That answer should be the long and short of it, but within the media it gets twisted into all shades of if buts and maybes, usually focused on prospective partners. Men in particular get singled out, either for dating trans women or for s...

Transgender Mental Health

Transgender Mental Health Transgender people face incredible obstacles in many aspects of life, chief among them is accessing affordable, affirming, and competent healthcare. The National LGBTQ+ Task Force and Trans Lifeline joined forces to help identify the unique barriers that transgender people face in accessing mental health care by conducting the most comprehensive survey of mental health in the transgender community. The survey’s ultimate goal was to collect data that informs mental health practitioners so that they can develop policies that improve support systems for our vulnerable population. LGBTQ+ people are almost 3 times more likely than others to experience a mental health condition such as major depression or generalized anxiety disorder than their straight counterparts. Many factors contribute to this perveance such as the fear of coming out, facing discrimination, being targeted for violence, and struggling to access healthcare. Results from the largest survey of ...

Complaining about Female Problems !!!

Complaining about Female Problems !!! It is very interesting that a few days ago I was talking with a friend of mine who has been around for about 4 years of my life, and one of the reasons we became friends because his former mentor transitioned from male to female too. The topic was not what I originally expected from them and gave me some insight into some facts that were quite unique. We began talking about what exactly I complain about, things that were in fact things any women complain about and not what the vast majority of transwomen complain about. Now this comes from someone who has listened to me ramble on and talk constantly for the last 4 years, but only ever experienced me as a transgender woman, but knew me before breast augmentation and vaginoplasty surgeries and after. I personally never even noticed, and it took someone from the outside to point it out, and I was entirely shocked, but also amazed at how this was in fact another confirmation of being a woman. The...
